The Department of Art
The Department of Art provides students with a comprehensive education in the arts that fosters individual creativity, critical and marketable career skills. At Caldwell, individual attention is given so the student can achieve maximum artistic growth. Students begin with foundation classes in drawing, two- and three-dimensional design, and digital media. These classes are designed to develop the students ability “to see” and understand the fundamental elements of design. As students advance, courses in graphics, photography, painting, sculpture, and printmaking provide students with the tools necessary to develop their own ideas and expertise in a specific area.
Finding viable careers in the art world after graduation is an important consideration for Caldwell students and for the programs. To this end Caldwell offer a variety of B.A. and B.F.A. majors that lead to employment in art education, art therapy, graphic design and the museum field.
