
A choice of three pathways are offered:
Games Art
This provides an introduction to production workflow including the development of game assets from initial concept sketching and final concept rendering, through to the creation of exciting, technically viable digital games art. The focus is the production of strong portfolio pieces demonstrating your ability to produce games art assets in a creative and professional manner.
Media Art
Media art focuses on individual creativity, and how to apply this within the context of contemporary digital arts practice. You will develop a personal creative language and extend your means of communicating these ideas through a range of digital media.
Multimedia Design
On this pathway great emphasis is placed upon creative problem solving, design and visual awareness. You will examine and produce exciting multimedia artefacts utilising the latest industry standard software. In creating dynamic interactive systems just some of the areas you will explore will be web animation, motion graphics, new media advertising design and 2D and 3D illustration.

The course prepares you to work within a wide range of areas within creative industries. These may include: 3D artist, concept artist, junior 3D games modeller, texture artist, character designer, environment modeller or game content modeller. As well as providing a strong foundation for professional practice, the achievement of the Foundation degree also provides a guaranteed place on the Digital Arts Practice (Top-up) BA(Hons) degree at University Campus Oldham. |
A minimum of 120 UCAS points, preferably in Art and Design or computer related subjects.
- BTEC National Diploma (MMP).
- For those without traditional qualifications, we consider other suitable experience and qualifications and/or portfolio presentation.
- Applicants will be interviewed and in most cases will present a portfolio of work. We will also look for evidence of relevant experience and commitment to the subject. All applicants will be considered individually.
You are asked to choose which pathway you wish to follow upon application. All three specialist pathways share a common experience of core skills development before focusing upon individual specialism. These shared units allow you to explore your own creativity, as well as providing the necessary basic software and thinking skills needed for progression onto the chosen pathway.
