Break with tradition and explore the possibilities of creating visual communication through concepts with meaning. Illustration inspires and also benefits by being a component in the vast expanse that is design communication and presents the illustrator with the constant opportunity to emigrate between creative disciplines. This programme of study will provide an energetic critical path for this communication craft and inspires you to attain the skills required to converse, influence, transfer knowledge and amuse with focus, foresight and elegance.

Your main career opportunities will be in the areas of freelance design, children's book illustration or within the greeting card industry.

Admission Requirements & Selection

Specific requirements for this course are normally one of the following:

  • Successful completion of a foundation course in Art and Design.
  • 280 points gained at GCE awards or Advanced Vocational Certificate of Education (AVCE) A level or equivalent.
  • An EdExcel/BTEC National Diploma with a distinction and merits in a relevant subject.
  • In addition to the above, strong emphasis will be placed on the quality of your portfolio and a satisfactory interview.
  • Other suitable experience or qualifications will be considered.
