Southampton Solent University is a university of 17,000 students based in Southampton, United Kingdom. Its main campus is located on East Park Terrace near the city centre. SSU offer their students a choice of courses ranging from foundation 'level zero' years that lead onto degree courses, to master's degrees and PhDs, plus a variety of professional and short courses. Since 1992 SSU awarded more than 100 research degrees.
School of Design
Design has played a hugely important role in the history and development of art and design education within Southampton. The Southampton School of Art, founded in 1855, offered courses in both the fine and commercial arts.
