On completion of this exciting course you will emerge as a design-aware graduate with the skills and knowledge to succeed in interior design and its allied industries. Innovative design recognises the current influences of media and popular culture, and this programme seeks to produce graduates at the cutting edge of interior design, rather than followers of tradition.

  • Accreditation: The British Interior Design Association (BIDA) and the Chartered Society of Designers (CSD).

Through a range of theoretical and practical units, you will study areas such as spatial design, photographic practices, materials and textiles, interior design historical styles and movements, homestaging and fashioning interior spaces. You will also get the opportunity to study trendsetting and forecasting. While emphasis is on the domestic interior, you will have the scope at Level 3 to apply your knowledge to retail and commercial scenarios such as hotels, restaurants, office spaces, theatres or public spaces.

Career Opportunities

This degree will equip you for a range of roles within the interior design industry, such as interior designer, concept designer, stylist, forecaster, colourist, style consultant, magazine/editorial features editor, or in visual merchandising.

Industrial placement & Field Trips

There is the possibility of placement in the Curriculum Plus scheme during Year 1 and in the Professional Projects Unit in Year 3. Study visits are arranged to UK and abroad

Admission Requirements & Selection
  • 160 UCAS points from two 6-unit awards.
  • Qualifications equivalent to the above may also be considered
  • You will normally be invited to a portfolio viewing and briefing and sometimes a formal interview.
