Are you a budding film maker? Do you want to create professional 2D and 3D animations? Are you a music producer? Do you want to create sound FX for games, TV and films? Are you a composer or musician in a band and want to create your own professional quality music videos? If so, then this course could be for you. Working with professional tutors, you’ll be trained on specialised industry standard audio, video and animation production equipment and software. You’ll have access to some of the finest teaching studios and labs in the country with 11 digital audio recording studios running Pro Tools and Nuendo, 2D and 3D animation suites, digital video production facilities and motion capture.

  • Placements: The optional 12 month paid work placement provides an opportunity for you to test the skills and knowledge learned during the first two years of your studies in a real work environment. The dedicated Placement Unit will assist you in finding a suitable placement host. With the university's continuous support, you’ll gain in experience, maturity and motivation and return better equipped to succeed in your studies and subsequently to secure the graduate job of your choice.

You’ll develop a solid understanding of and advanced skills in all aspects of the video, animation and music production industries, from both technological and creative perspectives.

Career Opportunities

The recording industry needs skilled sound engineers, composers and producers; TV, film and radio, multimedia and live sound production industries all need graduates with strong technical skills and practical ability. The graduates have the expert skills and knowledge needed to succeed in these highly competitive industries with opportunities to work for employers such as ITV, Noise Box, EMAP, the BBC and the Music Factory.

Admission Requirements & Selection

Entry requirements for this course are normally the following:

  • In the region of 300 points from three A levels (including General Studies) plus GCSE Mathematics and English at grade C or above or equivalent and excluding Key Skills.
  • Other suitable experience or qualifications will be considered individually.
