
This course will equip you with an understanding of how the fashion product is designed, developed and produced for the commercial environment.

The course will include generic marketing principles and strategies delivered by the Faculty of Business, Sport and Enterprise. It is aimed at students who want a career in the fashion industry and who want to pursue a theoretical rather than practical route. You will not necessarily be from a design background and will be considered without a portfolio.

- 160 points from two 6-unit awards or equivalent, one of which must be in a relevant art and design discipline; or have undertaken a relevant Art and Design Foundation course.
- Qualifications equivalent to the above may also be considered
Course Content
Year 1
Units cover: fashion cycle, fashion design process and principles, garment and trend analysis, fashion forecasting, verbal and visual presentations and fashion history, marketing principles and finance for marketing.
Year 2
Units cover: buying and merchandising, multi-channel marketing, advertising, public relations, corporate branding, product and retail management, marketing management, marketing research, research methods.
Placement year (optional)
You are encouraged to work in conjunction with course tutors to research and organise your own desired industry-based work placement.
Year 3
You will independently negotiate project outcomes, according to your individual career aspirations and personal development, culminating in the final Major Project. Other units cover retail management, strategic marketing management and brand strategies.
