The UK computer games industry continues to produce innovative and creative games titles. This fast paced transferable technology is embedded in next generation products and applications, which you’ll find in architectural design, concept product design, 3D, animation and TV. This course will develop your abilities to design and produce creative concepts, artwork and graphical assets for computer games. UoH introduce current research, issues and ideas, and developing technologies used by the industry. The optional year-long work placement is highly recommended and gives you great practical insight into the career choices available.

Recent placement opportunities include Sega™ Europe Ltd, Rebellion Studios, Red Vision and our in-house Canalside Studios.

You’ll become capable of designing and producing artwork and concepts for the computer games industry with a broad understanding of the process of designing and specifying computer games. You’ll also develop your creative, analytical, problem solving, research and teamwork skills, providing a platform for career development and innovation.

Career Opportunities

UoH graduates are equipped to enter the industry in a variety of roles including 2D and 3D artist, animator, texture artist, environment artist, level designer and junior producer.

Admission Requirements & Selection

Specific requirements for this course are one of the following:

  • In the region of 280 points from three A levels (including General Studies) or equivalent plus GCSE Mathematics and English at grade C or above or equivalent and excluding Key Skills.
  • Other suitable experience or qualifications will be considered.
